This is the moment a lynx narrowly avoids being hit by cars as it dashed across a busy highway.
The incident took place at the Sortavala highway, which passes through a forest that is home to numerous wild animals, in Russia's Leningrad Oblast on Wednesday, 16th July.
Video from the scene shows the wild cat emerging from the forest near a warning sign for wild animals before approaching the road and attempting to leap over a concrete barrier.
After failing to clear it, the lynx quickly retreats, and two vehicles are seen slowing down just in time to avoid a collision.
Officials from the Federal Road Administration "North-West" urged motorists to remain alert and obey speed limits, particularly on roads passing through wooded areas and near signs indicating wild animals.
They confirmed the lynx was one of several wild creatures spotted in the area that day.
