This is the moment passengers attempt to help a woman after she fell while disembarking a LATAM aircraft at an airport before she later died.
The incident took place at Congonhas Airport, in the Zona Sul area of Sao Paulo, south-eastern Brazil, on 29th May.
Passengers are seen moving towards Maria da Gloria Pereira da Silva Favaro, 72, after she falls during the disembarkation process from a commercial aircraft.
The 72-year-old had been travelling on flight LA3785 from Ribeirao Preto, in the interior of Sao Paulo state, towards the capital.
She had been making a journey connected to a family visit, according to relatives cited in local reports.
After the fall, airport staff and passengers provided immediate assistance on the aircraft stairs.
Maria da Gloria was then taken for emergency treatment to the UPA Jabaquara in Sao Paulo.
She was later transferred to the Hospital Alemao Oswaldo Cruz for further care.
Medical teams continued treatment over the following days after the accident.
Maria da Gloria Pereira da Silva Favaro died two days later, on 31st May, as a result of the injuries sustained.
LATAM issued a statement confirming the incident during disembarkation.
The airline said: “The passenger suffered a fall while descending the aircraft stairs. A staff member accompanied all the care provided to the woman until her family arrived.”
The company added that all required safety protocols had been followed and expressed condolences to the family.
The case was registered by police as a suspicious death and accidental death at the 2nd Tourist Police Station (DEATUR) at Congonhas.
Authorities confirmed that inquiries were underway to clarify the circumstances surrounding the fall.
Maria da Gloria was identified as being from Ituverava, in the interior of Sao Paulo state.
Her funeral was scheduled to take place on 2nd June in the same municipality.
Family members said she had travelled to celebrate her daughter’s birthday, who lives in Mato Grosso state.
Investigators continue to review the incident as part of the ongoing inquiry into the death.
