A young mother who became a feared gangland drug boss after surviving an attempted femicide has been shot dead.
The body of Eweline Passos Rodrigues, 28, who became known as the Blonde Devil, was found with gunshot wounds to the head and chest in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Thursday night, 14th August.
Her body was wrapped in a sheet and identified by her distinctive tattoos.
Police confirmed she was wanted in both Santa Catarina and Rio de Janeiro for drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation.
Rodrigues had first entered the world of organised crime after being stabbed in the lung by her former partner in 2022, an attack she only survived after emergency surgery.
She later joined the notorious 'Red Command' criminal group, but broke with the gang after accusing one of its leaders of trying to abuse her.
She then aligned herself with the rival 'Pure Third Command' (TCP) and began flaunting assault rifles and pistols on social media, where she gathered nearly 70,000 followers.
In her posts, she repeatedly said she would never surrender alive, declaring: "I'll only leave in a coffin."
In June this year, she was filmed shooting at police officers during an operation Rio's West Zone.
Just weeks before her death, she reportedly posted a disturbing video speaking about her fear of dying, admitting that at the start of her life in crime she was afraid but that over time it had disappeared.
She said: "If I had been scared of death, I would have run far away. Everybody dies one day. I have no regrets."
Her death came amid heavy fighting between the Red Command and the TCP in the North Zone of Rio.
Investigators from the Capital Homicide Division are now probing the case.
