This is the bizarre moment a scooter rider smashes into the side of a car and suddenly runs off leaving his scooter in the middle of the road as the driver looks completely baffled at what just happened.

The incident happened at the intersection of Kaslinskaya and Kalinina in Chelyabinsk, Russia, on Monday, 25th August.

Footage shows the scooter rider, reportedly a teenager, crossing at a pedestrian crossing against the lights.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene for almost an hour after the accident.

Later, a man believed to be a service worker arrived and removed the abandoned scooter.

Traffic police were not notified of the accident.
