This is the miracle moment a dad whose family car was crushed to just two feet high under a lorry in a nightmare pile-up calmly chats to rescuers amid the twisted wreckage.
Dentist Carlos Henrique, his wife Samia, their two children and his 76-year-old mother-in-law had been on their way home to Joaquim Gomes, a town in the Brazilian state of Alagoas, on 21st July.
But when they stopped at a set of motorway roadwork lights a following lorry failed to brake in time and rammed them underneath a second lorry in front of them.
Astonishing rescue video footage shows the car's roof has been crushed so low that it is almost down to the bottom of the windows.
Inside, calm Carlos lies flat out on his back with the roof just inches from his nose, chatting to firefighters as he peers out from the wreck as if nothing had happened.
As he describes what happened, Carlos says: "There are five of us in here."
Amazingly, after a complex rescue, Carlos, Samia, son Pedro, 7, 12-year-old Nina and mum-in-law Sebastiana were all pulled alive from the flattened car.
Shocked firefighter Sergeant Chirle Gutemberg said: "It looked like a crushed passion fruit. The car was completely destroyed. Only the airbags and the seatbelts saved them."
Local media reports say two people died in the eight-vehicle pile-up.
The lorry driver who hit the family, named as Anderson Luiz Santos Silva, 36, fled the crash scene but turned himself in to the police two days later.
His lawyer blamed the crash on poor road signage, and the Civil Police are investigating the pile-up.
