This is the moment firefighters rescue a mare that plunged from a five-metre ravine and became trapped between a rock face and the wall of a home.
The incident happened in Sabara, Greater Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on 8th August.
Footage released by the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department shows the animal wedged in the narrow gap, unable to move.
Firefighters say the mare had difficulty breathing because the confined space did not allow her chest to expand.
With the homeowner’s permission, they broke through an internal wall to improve airflow for the animal.
They then continued breaking the wall from the outside until the gap was wide enough for the mare to be freed without further injury.
The rescue lasted about an hour.
The animal did not suffer serious injuries and was left in the care of the resident.
