This is the smiling four-year-old girl stabbed to death using scissors by her cousin after he took offence at being called "crazy" by her dad.
Little Helena Victoria de Oliveira Silva was stabbed to death by her 16-year-old cousin, who was not named, as vengeance for the alleged insult in the early hours of Sunday. 3rd August, in Barbacena, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
According to police, the teenager confessed that he had been planning the attack for three months after allegedly being bullied by the girl's father, who he said called him names including “crazy”, causing him psychological distress which he decided to get revenge for.
Police were called after Helena went missing from her home. When they arrived, they searched but could not find her.
Later that morning, her father discovered her body in a wooded area near the family home.
Officers were told that the teenager had secretly made a copy of the house key.
While the family was asleep, he used it to enter, abducted Helena, and took her to his home.
When she began to scream, he covered her mouth and stabbed her multiple times in the head and neck with scissors.
After she died, he wrapped her in a shirt, took her to a wooded area, and tried to burn the body, but the fire only partially damaged it.
He returned home, spoke to his mother, washed his bloodied clothes, took a shower, and went to bed. His stepfather, seeing the blood, believed it was a suicide attempt and cleaned the floor.
The teenager’s mother later noticed his blood-covered clothing and questioned him, but he remained silent. He later told his sister he had cut his hand, raising suspicions.
During police questioning, the boy initially denied involvement but later asked an officer if he was “worthy of forgiveness” before admitting to the killing.
The child’s mother said she did not hear the boy enter the house but heard screaming at her sister’s home and went to investigate.
She returned to find her daughter missing, and the family began searching.
The girl’s father was described as distraught and required medical assistance by paramedics, who were called to support family members affected by the trauma.
The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment and then to the police station, accompanied by his parents.
The police report stated that Helena’s body was found in a wooded area and was carried by her father back to the house, where locals placed her body in a garage to avoid exposure on the street.
Forensic teams examined the scene and the weapon used in the killing was recovered.
The child was buried the following morning at the Parque Repouso da Saudade cemetery in Barbacena.
