This is the shocking moment a teacher was secretly filmed rifling through her students’ bags apparently searching for something to steal during class breaks.
The incident happened at the Teachers' College in the city of Victoria, in Entre Rios province, Argentina, on Thursday, 21st August.
The video, recorded on a hidden cell phone, shows the teacher, identified as Veronica Escobar, checking backpacks and purses while students are out of the room.
In some cases, students said she sent classmates to the office with excuses so she could be left alone in the classroom.
According to police chief Martin Tello, two fifth-year students decided to record their belongings after money went missing repeatedly.
When they reviewed the footage, they discovered that their own teacher was responsible.
The students filed two formal complaints on the same day.
Police seized the phone and handed the footage over to prosecutor Jorge Gamal Taleb, who has taken charge of the case.
Judicial authorities have charged the teacher with theft, and she is expected to be questioned in the coming hours.
The institution, formally known as the "Osvaldo Magnasco" Normal School, has stated that disciplinary measures are also underway.
