This is the moment a young woman forces a dog to drink alcohol while laughing with friends inside a moving car.
The incident took place in Ciudad Madera, Chihuahua, Mexico.
The footage shows the woman inside the vehicle as she holds down the animal and pours beer into its mouth.
The footage shows a woman in the passenger seat grabbing the dog by the neck and forcing its mouth open while her companions laugh.
The frightened animal, which was taken from the street, appears confused and distressed before it was reportedly released and ran away.
The video, originally uploaded by one of the people in the car, caused widespread outrage and included a caption that read: “If you’ve lost a dog, don’t worry, I’ll bring it back."
Users on social media called the act a serious case of animal abuse and demanded punishment for those involved.
Some internet users identified the individuals in the footage as students of the National Pedagogical University of Chihuahua and tagged the institution in posts demanding disciplinary action.
The university later confirmed that it had identified at least one of the students seen in the video and condemned the act.
The university said in a statement from 12th October: “The National Pedagogical University of the State of Chihuahua strongly condemns any act of animal abuse and reiterates its commitment to ethical education, empathy, and respect for all living beings."
University Principal Graciela Aida Velo added: “We are working on it, and the appropriate steps and sanctions will be taken. I am doing this personally.”
The Madera City Council also issued a statement condemning the abuse and said it was cooperating with the authorities.
The council said: “It is our responsibility to protect animals from cruelty, ensure their well-being, and punish those who commit acts of abuse."
Despite the public outcry, the Chihuahua State Prosecutor’s Office told local media that no formal complaint had yet been filed over the incident.
