A five-year-old boy who loved dressing up as Spider-Man pretending to fight crime has died after he was shot in the head as he stood in the doorway of his home during an armed attack.
Little Enzo Gabriel Assis da Silva was gunned down in Nova Iguacu, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday, 15th August.
He had been standing in the front door of the family home when a white car pulled up and a man got out and opened fire on another man, named as Mateus Severiano Maximiliano de Souza, 27.
Both Enzo and Mateus were hit.
They were taken to Nova Iguacu General Hospital.
Doctors said Mateus was treated for gunshot wounds to his arms and later discharged.
Enzo underwent surgery after being struck in the head.
Doctors said the bullet had passed through, leaving him in an extremely delicate condition.
Sadly, they confirmed him brain-dead on 18th August after several tests showed an absence of brain activity.
His body has been transferred to the Forensic Medical Institute.
Hospital staff said Enzo's parents received daily updates and continuous support as his condition deteriorated.
Enzo was known in his neighbourhood for dressing up in a Spider-Man costume and pretending to fight crime.
The case has shocked the community and police from the 58th DP in Posse are investigating.
