This is the moment a little boy who discovers that the garden gate is open runs out onto the street and is run over by a car driven by a pensioner.
The accident happened in the village of Pesochny in the Kurortny District of St. Petersburg, Russia, at around 3pm on 9th August.
According to preliminary information from police, the two-year-old ran out through the open gate and his parents were unable to stop him.
Footage shows how he was struck by a Hyundai, reportedly driven by a 75-year-old man who did not have time to react.
People from the house can be seen running outside moments later and too late to prevent the collision, before seeing the injured boy lying on the road.
He was taken to a children’s hospital for treatment.
It is unclear what his current condition is.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
