This is the smiling face of the young woman police officer at her baby reveal party before she was shot in the stomach and lost her unborn child.
Navy sergeant Juliana da Silva Oliveira Pessoas, 37, was around four months pregnant when she was shot in Sao Joao de Meriti, in Brazil, on Sunday, 10th August.
The baby boy, who was to be called Pedro, died in the womb two days later.
Given that she was 20 weeks pregnant and would only recently have learned the gender of her baby, the celebration took place shortly before the shooting.
She remains in a very serious condition at Adao Pereira Nunes Municipal Hospital in Duque de Caxias.
Doctors say she is sedated, intubated, and dependent on high doses of medication to maintain her blood pressure. She is breathing with mechanical ventilation.
The hospital reported that Juliana is under intensive care and being monitored by a vascular surgery team after undergoing an emergency operation to stop internal bleeding and repair damaged blood vessels.
Security camera footage captured the moment a motorcycle carrying two men pulled up beside the car she was in with her husband.
She was in the passenger seat and her husband was driving.
As relatives got out of the vehicle, the pillion passenger opened fire through the driver’s side window before the pair sped away without taking anything.
Police say the case is being investigated as the attempted murder.
Detectives are analysing CCTV and speaking to witnesses in an effort to track down the suspects.
