A fugitive armed robber has begun a 33-year jail sentence after he was finally caught hiding behind a shelf in his house during a police raid.
The arrest happened in the Ipsala district of Edirne, Turkey, on 7th August.
Video recorded by police shows officers entering the property and searching the rooms before finding the suspect crouched behind a tall shelving unit.
He is pulled out from his hiding place by officers and handcuffed on the spot.
Police said the man, identified as M.K., had been wanted since 1st August 2024 for armed robbery.
The raid was carried out jointly by the Edirne Provincial Police Department’s Wanted Persons Bureau, the Ipsala District Police Department, and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command’s Crime Investigation Team, coordinated by the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers acted after technical and physical surveillance confirmed his location.
Following his detention, M.K. was taken to court, formally arrested, and sent to prison.
Authorities said operations to capture wanted criminals are continuing.
