Chanel has responded to criticism over its decision to turn away Jennifer Lopez who then spent thousands of dollars in the store next door during a shopping trip in Istanbul ahead of her concert.
The world-famous singer Lopez had been browsing luxury stores when she attempted to enter the Chanel branch at Istinye Park shopping centre, on 4th August.
But instead she was turned away by a guard who did not recognise her and reportedly told her: "We're full."
Unfazed by the Chanel snub, Lopez reportedly replied: "Okay, no problem," before walking away.
She then visited neighbouring Celine and Beymen stores where she spent three hours shopping and made purchases reportedly worth tens of thousands of dollars, according to Turkish media.
Images show the star walking through the centre with her security team dressed in a Victoria Beckham tunic and shorts combined with round pink sunglasses.
Chanel staff later realised who she was and reportedly invited her into the store, but Lopez declined the offer.
Some social media users later interpreted the move as "disrespect to a world star", according to reports.
However, the store has since stated that it does not plan to take any action against the security guard.
Company officials stated that the guard was merely following the policy of a limited number of customers being allowed inside, which was introduced during the pandemic, and therefore no fault was detected with his actions.
Lopez went on to perform on 5th August at Festival Park Yenikapi as part of the Istanbul Festival, where she performed for thousands of enthusiastic fans.
Her set included hits such as "On The Floor" and "Let's Get Loud" with the audience singing along and cheering enthusiastically throughout the night.
