This is the touching moment five horses stand around a sick foal lying helplessly on the road and block the entrance to a tunnel to protect it from incoming cars.
The youngling had reportedly collapsed after suddenly becoming unwell and remained lying inside the Honghualiang Tunnel in Zhangjiakou, in Hebei Province, China.
But video footage from 19th July shows how five older horses then banded together and stood watch over the foal while blocking the entrance to passing cars.
According to witnesses, the horses blocked the road for 40 minutes as if they were waiting for help to arrive.
One motorist, who filmed the incredible act, said the small horse was alive but could not get up on its own.
The police were eventually called and they tracked down the horses' owner.
They then used tree branches to drive the animals away and clear the road.
Traffic soon resumed, and the stranded vehicles passed through safely.
There have been no updates regarding the foal's health condition.
Users on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, were very moved by the scene, with one titled 'Ming Xueqi' saying: "More affectionate and righteous than humans."
Another, called 'Yunchuanyue', wrote: "These horses are more sympathetic than some people. It's touching to watch them."
And 'User 3798286322221' said: "Everything has a soul!"
