HAIR SHE IS - US Tourist Traps Teen Pickpocket By Her Ponytail

This is the moment a tourist gives a 14-year-old pickpocket a really bad hair day when she grabs her by the ponytail and refuses to let go.

Phone footage of the encounter, filmed by holidaymakers in Venice, Italy, on 14th August, shows the furious tourist holding onto the crook's hair with a vice-like grip.

Earlier, reports local media, the US holidaymaker had spotted the thief sneaking her purse with her passport in it from her bag and and instinctively grabbed her ponytail.

But as the thief struggles and screams at her grey-haired victim she holds on tight telling her: "You stole my purse with my passport in it.

"You are not getting away. I’m not stopping kid. You are not getting away."

Then when her accomplice threatens to call the police the holidaymaker says: "Let's get the police and maybe I’ll get my passport back."

Passersby then called police and when the crook saw them coming, she tried to batter her way free by smashing her mobile phone into her victim's head.

One blow to the tourist's temple opened up a heavily bleeding wound which needed treatment from paramedics.

Both suspect resisted arrest but were overpowered by police and then charged with theft and released on bail.

The pair were reportedly spotted back on the streets eyeing up throngs of tourists near just two days later, on 16th August.

Social media users cheered the tourist's fightback.

One said: "Super good job lady. Hold the ponytail tight until the police come. And make them empty their bags and pants."
