A German woman has been arrested for pooing in a hotel swimming pool while on holiday in Greece after the managers reported her to police.
The bizarre incident unfolded at a hotel in Hersonissos, a town on the world-famous island of Crete on the Mediterranean coast, on 12th August.
According to local reports, the 47-year-old hotel manager and the 70-year-old representative of the business went to the Heraklion Police Station claiming they had witnessed the 53-year-old guest defecate in their pool.
Following the complaint, police located and arrested the 53-year-old, who has not been named.
However, she denied the allegations and instead accused the two managers of defamation and slander.
She filed a formal complaint against them, and the two men were also arrested. Their identities have not been disclosed.
It is believed the poo was recovered from the pool as evidence, although it is unclear whether it will be possible to identify who left it, as chlorine breaks down DNA quickly and makes gut bacteria testing difficult.
The case is now under investigation by the competent authorities, who are examining all the evidence to clarify what exactly happened at the tourist accommodation.
All three are understood to have been released from police custody while prosecutors examine the claims.
