A biology teacher has been suspended after implying it is better to be an adult content producer than a professor because she earns more from OnlyFans-style platforms than from teaching.
Furious education officials demanded an investigation after the remarks by 43-year-old lecturer Rosana dos Reis Abrante Nunes from the Federal Institute of Espirito Santo (Ifes) in Brazil.
They later ruled she had dragged the profession into disrepute. Rosana was sanctioned with the loss of a special allowance for exclusive dedication and suspended from teaching for one month.
The disciplinary decision was published on Monday, 18th August, and signed by rector Jadir Jose Pela.
The scandal began when parents of her pupils discovered her erotic content online and complained to the institution.
Rosana had been posting under the handle 'prof_biosexy', where she shared clips of herself licking a lollipop, flashing a nipple, and even running a biro suggestively around her bra while marking papers.
She was previously ordered to delete her racier photos from free platforms like Instagram and Twitter, and banned from calling herself a professor on those pages.
But she continued uploading material to subscription networks OnlyFans and Privacy, where she said she could earn up to BRL 20,000 (GBP 2,700) a month - more than her academic salary.
At times, her earnings reportedly reached BRL 30,000 (GBP 4,000), double her pay as a lecturer.
Rosana holds both a master's degree and a PhD in animal biology from the Federal University of Espirito Santo.
She began creating adult content in August 2022 after seeing teachers abroad succeed with the "sexy professor" niche.
She said she had consulted her two daughters, then aged 10 and 17, before launching her pages and claimed they had never faced bullying or exclusion as a result.
Officials said her public comments compromised the institution’s reputation and embarrassed her profession.
Rosana denied wrongdoing and said her activities never caused problems with her students.
She argued she only disclosed her earnings to clarify a private matter and compared adult content to receiving royalties for books.
Her defence included testimony from campus directors and students supporting her professionalism.
Despite this, the disciplinary commission concluded her public remarks about income had damaged Ifes’s image.
