This is the moment a fitness trainer falls through a hollow partition while climbing over a stairwell railing to retrieve a ball.
The accident happened at a gym in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, on 2nd August.
Video footage shows the man playing with a ball in the stairwell with a younger boy when it bounces off the railing.
He climbs over the railing to get it back, even though a "No Climbing" sign written in Chinese is clearly posted nearby.
As he steps onto the partition, his foot goes through it and he plunges down to the floor below.
The fall occurred between the first and second floors.
Gym colleagues rush to help and pull him to safety.
The gym’s owner, Mr Xia, said the trainer had only been working there for a year and did not know the partition was hollow.
He suffered minor scratches but is otherwise unharmed.
Mr Xia said the hollow structure was created by interior decorators.
Repairs are currently underway.
The gym will be adding protective measures, enlarging warning signs, and informing staff, customers, and neighbouring businesses.
