Three young men riding a motorcycle had a miraculous escape when a landslide sent debris crashing down a hillside and struck their bike as they passed by during a period of heavy rain and flooding.
The incident took place in Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri region, in Uttarakhand, India, on Tuesday, 5th August.
CCTV footage shows a bustling road filled with pedestrians and vehicles just moments before a torrent of rocks and earth suddenly breaks loose from a nearby slope, slamming into the approaching motorcycle.
The bike is seen skidding and toppling to the ground, throwing all three riders off as bystanders look on in shock.
Despite the force of the impact, the riders were not seriously injured and were quickly helped to safety by people nearby.
The landslide was triggered by a massive cloudburst in Uttarkashi, around 100 kilometres (62 miles) away, which has caused widespread devastation across the region.
Train traffic between Haridwar and Dehradun was disrupted due to debris on the tracks, although partial restoration was achieved by Wednesday afternoon.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued a red alert for further heavy rainfall in Haridwar and the surrounding districts.
