A glam gran with almost seven million followers who became a TikTok sensation with her daring lingerie shoots has died aged 82.
Coracy ‘Cora’ Arantes, from Itumbiara and later based in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, passed away on Wednesday, 27th August, after almost a week in intensive care following complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Her family said she was admitted last Thursday for observation after a COPD crisis, and when her condition worsened on Saturday doctors decided to intubate her and transfer her to the ICU.
Medical updates shared by her relatives revealed she suffered two cardiopulmonary arrests but was resuscitated, before doctors identified significant cerebral oedema during a CT scan.
She died days later in hospital.
Cora's grandson Gabriel, who was also her content producer, announced her death in a post to her followers, describing her as "our star" and confirming her accounts would remain active as a tribute.
The statement said: "Today she leaves us… but don't think she would want to see you crying.
"It was thanks to you that the smile returned to her face, and I know she would never want to see her loved ones sad."
Her videos, which often showed her dancing, posing in lingerie, and giving beauty tips for mature women, made her one of Brazil’s best-known elderly influencers.
One of her most famous clips was the blazer trend in which she first appeared in a short dress, then slipped it off on camera and put on an oversized blazer with nothing underneath, before posing confidently for the camera.
That single upload has been viewed more than 85 million times and has received over 8 million likes.
Cora had first turned to social media in 2019 after Gabriel showed her how to use TikTok to overcome long-term depression, which she had struggled with for more than 40 years.
She had lost her husband to cancer years earlier, and said she found new joy in connecting with people online.
Before her online fame, she worked as a hairdresser and raised two daughters.
