This is the moment a bus driver veers into the emergency lane hitting two men beside a pickup truck before plunging into a cornfield.
The crash happened on the Samsun-Ordu highway near Gundogdu in Turkey’s Terme district at around 08:45am on Monday, 25th August.
Security camera footage shows the driver appearing to doze off before snapping to but not reacting quickly enough.
He appears to avoid the parked vehicle on the hard shoulder but strikes the two men standing next to it.
His window is smashed and the bus continues across the roadside before driving into the grass verge where it comes to a stop next to a road sign.
The victims were named as Aydın Yigit, 47, and Mehmet Yildiz, 71.
Both men were seriously injured and taken to hospital by paramedics.
Yigit was in critical condition and died at Terme State Hospital despite medical intervention.
Yildiz, a father of four, was transferred to Samsun Training and Research Hospital but could not be saved.
There were 32 passengers on the bus and all escaped unharmed.
The victims were laid to rest on Tuesday, 26th August.
The Mercedes passenger bus was being driven by Mustafa Hakan O.
He was later arrested by a court on charges of causing the death of two people through negligence and sent to prison.
