This is the moment a truck-mounted crane veers into oncoming traffic and smashes into three cars during a crash that left five vehicles wrecked.

The accident happened on the R-243 Kostroma–Sharya–Kirov–Perm highway near Sudislavl, Russia, at 2:13pm on Friday, 22nd August.

Video footage shows the truck-mounted crane swerving suddenly into the opposite lane before colliding with a Kia Soul, a Chevrolet Lacetti, and a Hyundai Solaris.

The Kia driver, born in 1973, and a passenger, born in 2007, were injured in the crash.

The teenager was taken to a hospital in the regional center in serious condition.

Five other adults and two children travelling in the other vehicles were examined by doctors.

Their lives are not in danger.

Police are carrying out an investigation into the accident.
