This is the moment a villager discovers a giant hornet nest over three feet tall and 20 inches wide hidden above a suspended ceiling in his home.
The video was filmed in Guilin, in Guangxi Province, China, and was first shared on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, on 26th July.
Footage shows the enormous paper-like nest wedged in a narrow space above the ceiling structure.
The homeowner, who has not been named, reportedly plans to bring in a professional hornet removal specialist to deal with it after the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional harvest festival in Chinese culture typically celebrated in October.
It is currently unclear which exact species built the huge hive, but the region is home to the Asian giant hornet (Vespa mandarinia), also known as the murder hornet because they often hunt and kill honey bees.
It is the world's largest hornet species and has also been known to aggressively attack humans or animals, causing painful stings.
