This is the terrifying moment a jilted husband swings a huge axe through an open lift door towards his ex before he is tackled by two men standing next to her.
The incident, recorded by a surveillance camera, occurred in Xuzhou, in China's Jiangsu Province, on the evening of 14th July.
It happened right after the woman, who was not named, requested help from her building's management after a series of threatening texts she received from her ex-husband, surnamed Li, after having learnt she was dating someone new.
Management sent two staff members to accompany the frightened woman to her apartment when Li suddenly showed up.
Shocking footage shows him waiting outside the lift when the doors open and he swings a huge axe in her direction.
He almost strikes the two men standing next to her, who quickly subdue him and take the axe from his hands as the video ends.
Police were called to the scene and arrested Li, and an investigation is ongoing.
Preliminary findings suggest that Li, who had been abusive towards his ex even before their divorce in 2018, was trying to get revenge on the woman after learning that she was seeing someone new.
