This is the moment an army officer wearing a red T-shirt and blue jeans punches an airline employee before attacking a second worker in a high-visibility vest during a row at an airport check-in counter.
The incident took place at Srinagar International Airport in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir on 26th July.
Video footage shows the man lashing out at a SpiceJet staffer in formal clothing before turning and assaulting another worker in a yellow high-vis vest, knocking him to the floor with a series of punches and kicks as others rush to intervene.
A security guard can then be seen stepping in and physically restraining the assailant with the help of another employee as they push him back to prevent further attacks.
According to reports, the man in red later identified as Lieutenant Colonel Ritesh Kumar Singh, became violent after being told he would need to check in his 16-kilo cabin bag and pay an excess baggage fee.
Mudasir Ahmad, the ground staff member who was injured, told local media: “I was just doing my duty.
"I told him politely that the bag exceeded cabin baggage limit. He said he was a lieutenant colonel. I told him that this rule applies to everyone, and suddenly he attacked me.”
SpiceJet confirmed a police complaint had been lodged and that the injured worker was taken to hospital with back and shoulder injuries.
Singh has denied the allegations and also filed a police report claiming the airport worker started the altercation.
