This is the astonishing moment a tiny dog is discovered by mechanics after making a ruff 300-kilometre journey trapped inside the engine compartment of her owner's car.
The drama unfolded on Monday, 28th July, in the Brazilian municipality of Nova Andradina, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, after the pet named Xuxa, a petite chihuahua-terrier mix, vanished from her home.
Her unsuspecting owner, unaware that the dog had climbed into the engine bay, then drove to the city of Campo Grande, nearly 200 miles away, to get her vehicle serviced.
It was only when mechanics at the dealership opened the bonnet during a routine oil check that they discovered the missing pet wedged inside the area above the engine block.
In a video of the delicate rescue operation, one of the stunned workers reportedly says: "The car came in for an oil change and look what was on the engine block, on top. Poor thing."
Garage staff carefully freed the frightened animal, placing her in a cardboard box and gave her food and water before reuniting her with her relieved owner.
Remarkably, Xuxa was unharmed by the ordeal and is now back home, safe and sound.
