This is the bizarre moment a man climbs a high-voltage power line tower for the second day in a row before disappearing without a trace.
The incident took place in the village of Volchanets, in Primorsky Krai, where the 36-year-old was seen scaling a 110 kV transmission tower on Tuesday, 29th July.
Eyewitnesses filmed the man ignoring warnings from bystanders as he climbed to the top of the structure to perform balancing acts and later came down on his own.
Power company Primorsky Electric Networks — a regional branch of JSC DRSK, the Far Eastern Distribution Grid Company — filed a police report to determine the individual’s identity and motive.
Although officers were able to identify him, they were unable to locate him afterwards.
The video shows the man ascending the steel support despite the life-threatening danger posed by the high-voltage equipment.
Officials warned that even coming close to the wires can cause fatal burns, with 90 per cent of such injuries resulting in death.
The company added that every year in Russia there are multiple cases of people climbing towers to take photos or look at the view, often ending in tragedy.
DRSK said it regularly holds electrical safety lessons in schools to teach children about the risks and rules near power facilities yet there are still people that flout the rules.
