A model who claimed her nose was her trademark says her career is now in jeopardy after injuring her face during a ride on a fairground rollercoaster.
Annika Gassner, 36, who lives in Dusseldorf, Germany, with her six-year-old daughter Milana, was injured on the "Wilde Maus XXL" rollercoaster at the Rheinkirmes funfair on 17th July.
She said the ride had apparently come to a stop when it suddenly lurched forward again and then braked sharply, causing her nose to strike the safety bar in front of her.
Annika shared an image of the injuries, which she says shows the damage caused to her nose, with visible bruising around both eyes and what appears to be a bump on the bridge of the nose that she claims was not there before.
She said she was in such pain that she collapsed on leaving the ride and had to be treated by medics on site before receiving further care from two doctors.
She recounted: "I thought we had already stopped – but suddenly the ride accelerated again and then slammed on the brakes. My nose hit the safety bar with full force."
According to Annika, her nose had always been a defining feature of her modelling career and was natural and unaltered by surgery, saying: "I was always so proud of it."
She added: "My face is my capital, and my nose has always been my trademark."
Although she has not yet confirmed if she will take legal action, she said the injury had left her facing uncertainty over her career.
