A 17-year-old boy was electrocuted after he accidentally came into contact with a live high-tension wire while walking home wearing headphones and did not hear warnings from residents.
The incident happened in the Bhandup locality of Mumbai, India, on 19th August.
Video footage shows the teenager, named as Deepak Pille, walking on a waterlogged road as a bus passes nearby. He continues forward without noticing the wire beneath the water before suddenly collapsing after touching it.
Eyewitnesses said residents shouted and gestured warnings off camera, but Deepak did not react as he had earphones in.
The electric shock proved fatal, and he died instantly at the scene.
Residents said they had already warned others in the area to stay away from the exposed cable and their alerts had helped prevent injuries to several people earlier.
The death has sparked demands for urgent safety measures to repair open electrical wires and protect the public in the area.
