This is the moment a teacher hits a four-year-old boy on the head with a stack of books loosening six of his teeth before later claiming he had fallen in the bathroom.
The incident took place at the Xodo da Vovo private preschool in Caxias do Sul, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, on 18th August.
Security camera footage from inside the classroom shows the teacher yelling at the child before striking him with a pile of books. The boy immediately bursts into tears.
The video then shows the woman wiping his mouth with a cloth and leading him out of the room while telling him to "come wash your mouth."
The teacher, named as 49-year-old Leonice Batista dos Santos, later sent a photograph of the boy to the school administration, claiming he had fallen in the bathroom.
When the parents were called, they immediately took their son to a dentist, who found that one tooth had fallen out and five others had become loose.
The injuries were inconsistent with a simple fall, prompting the family to ask the school to review the surveillance footage.
After confirming the assault on the security video, the school promptly fired the teacher and apologised to the parents.
They also filed a police report and handed over the footage to the authorities, accompanying the boy’s parents to the station.
The child has been placed under medical and psychological monitoring.
His father said his son has been unable to eat normally and now has to take food through a straw.
He said: "He cannot chew. So, we can only feed him baby food, yogurt, soup, rice, and mashed beans. It's sad to say, it's awful. I feel like he's very scared.
"Any noise makes him scared, even of us. And it's a trauma. It remains a trauma. A trauma forever."
He added: "I want the teacher to go to jail."
Police confirmed that two separate reports had been filed, one by the family and one by the school, and that the case was being investigated under the classification of bodily harm.
The teacher had worked at the institution for six years. The principal reported that when shown the video evidence, she did not react.
The police investigation is ongoing.
