The family of a young Colombian woman who sent terrified texts from Egypt saying she feared for her life have slammed officials for claiming her fatal fall half-naked from a sixth-floor flat was an accident.
Ivonne Daniela Latorre, 24, had travelled to Cairo on 24th April 2025 to attend the Zamna electronic music festival with her friend, Colombian model and former Miss Antioquia Estefania Bedoya.
She vanished on the night of 27th April after she and her friend accepted an invitation to an after-party from Colombian trans woman Jessi Escobar.
According to police, there was a security camera video that showed Ivonne in a heated argument with Escobar at a petrol station shortly before she disappeared.
Hours later, she was found critically injured in the skylight of a residential complex after reportedly falling from the sixth floor.
She was discovered half naked and suffering from multiple injuries including pneumothorax.
Before she vanished, Ivonne sent chilling messages to friends and her parents in Colombia.
One text read: "If anything happens to me, it was this person, Jessi Escobar."
Another, about a man she called "The Serbian", said: "He's scaring me."
Ivonne was rushed to hospital in a coma.
She never regained consciousness and died on 4th May.
Egyptian officials closed the case, ruling it an accidental fall.
Her parents Tito Latorre and Mary Sanchez have rejected this, insisting the messages and the video footage prove she was in danger.
Tito said: "My daughter's life was taken, either because someone pushed her directly or hurt her, or because she felt cornered and decided to take her own life. And if she sent warning messages, it was because she wanted to live."
They have also questioned why Estefania never contacted them directly when Ivonne went missing, despite being in regular touch with her own family.
The family filed a homicide complaint in Colombia on 14th June, and prosecutors there have opened a fresh investigation.
