This is the moment stranded dogs rush up to greet and lick an off-duty policewoman who stopped to help when she saw them stuck on the central reservation on a busy motorway.
The incident occurred on the S5 expressway near Poznan in western Poland, and the police released a video of the incident this week (24th August).
Senior Sergeant Oliwia Zyg from the Czestochowa Municipal Police Headquarters was driving her private car while on holiday when she noticed the animals on the central reservation.
It was not revealed how the dogs ended up on the motorway when the Silesian Police later shared the video online.
Dashcam footage shows the officer stopping her car before getting out. The two large German shepherds rush towards her, lick her hands, muzzle against her, and then jump into the vehicle.
She then transported the dogs to a nearby parking lot, where they were safe.
After contacting the duty officer at the Poznan Municipal Police Headquarters, she received support from services who professionally secured the animals.
Meanwhile, she also posted details of the rescue on social media to help locate the owner.
Shortly afterwards, the dogs’ owner got in touch, thanked her, and collected the animals.
The Silesian Police confirmed that the German shepherds were safely returned home.
