A singer has faced backlash after he offered a little over GBP 100 to any man willing to kiss a woman with dwarfism during a live show.
The incident took place on 2nd August, at the Festa de Agosto festival in Sao Lourenco da Mata, Brazil, and was filmed by the singer's team before being posted on his official Instagram account.
In the footage, singer Nattan lifts the woman into the air, places her on a crate on stage, and offers BRL 1,000 (GBP 137) via Pix to anyone who kisses her.
After two men decline, he turns to a cameraman and says: "He might lose his job, but he won't lose the BRL 1,000."
The cameraman, later identified as Marcos Ferreira, accepts the offer, kisses the woman while Nattan films with a handheld camera, and carries her offstage.
Ferreira also posted the video online, writing: "When the kiss is worth a thousand and still comes with laughter and a full pocket… That's work with pleasure."
Nattan responded to criticism by stating that he also paid the woman BRL 1,000 (GBP 137) and that inviting people to kiss during shows was part of his routine.
The incident drew criticism from the Brazilian Dwarfism Association (Annabra), which said the woman was publicly ridiculed and announced plans to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
In a public statement, the association said: "Even if the woman agreed to participate, this does not represent collective consent from the dwarfism community.
"This type of exposure reinforces prejudice and subjects people to ridicule."
They also noted that discrimination based on disability is a crime in Brazil and can be punishable by up to five years in prison when committed through media or public channels.
Nattan had not issued a formal statement at the time of reporting, and the Sao Lourenço da Mata City Hall, which organised the event, declined to comment.
