This is the moment a white Cessna with green stripes is forced into an emergency landing by high-flying Navy personnel as it transports suspected methamphetamine into a remote part of northern Mexico.
The aircraft was intercepted in Cajeme, Sonora, after landing on a clandestine runway on 2nd August.
Naval officers arrested a man at the scene and seized two large packages containing a substance with characteristics similar to methamphetamine.
Video footage shows the small plane flying low over the desert landscape as it is tracked from above by Navy units. Later aerial shots show the aircraft grounded on a dirt landing strip with a military helicopter parked directly in front.
A suspect was detained by armed officers.
The Navy said the operation followed coordinated surveillance by maritime and air units operating under the Second Naval Region.
The aircraft, suspect, and suspected drugs were handed over to the Attorney General’s Office for further investigation.
Sonora state is known to be a key route for drug trafficking due to its proximity to the United States border and its remote terrain, which allows criminal groups to build illegal airstrips used for low-flying narco-flights.
