The charred body of a young Polish sportsman was one of two pulled from the wreckage of a light aircraft that crashed into a cornfield earlier this week captured in this dramatic footage.
The accident happened in Krzycko Wielkie in Greater Poland at around 11am on Monday, 25th August.
Video footage shows the plane spiralling towards the ground before colliding in the field and bursting into flames.
Firefighters said the aircraft was engulfed in fire on impact and the remains of both men on board were later found inside.
Police said the Tecnam P2008JC aircraft had taken off from Poznan’s Lawica Airport and was headed for Leszno-Strzyzewice Airport when it came down.
Local media reported the crash took place during a manoeuvre involving a short touchdown on the runway followed by an immediate re-climb.
One of the victims was identified as 20-year-old hammer thrower Jakub Pracharczyk, who had competed at the Polish Senior Athletics Championships in Bydgoszcz on the Saturday before the crash.
This year (2025), he was runner-up at the Polish Junior Hammer Throw Championships.
He had also represented Poland at the World U-20 Championships and regularly reached the podium at Polish U-20 and U-18 events.
His coach at OKS Skra Warszawa, Mikołaj Rosa, confirmed his death.
