This is the moment a kind police officer frees a cormorant tangled in fishing line with hooks embedded in its body and returns the bird to the sea.
The footage was obtained from the Mossos d'Esquadra, the regional police force of Catalonia on 1st June, and shows the incident at the Mar Bella beach in the city of Barcelona, in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia.
Officers were alerted by members of the public who had come across the seabird in distress along the shore.
The video shows an officer removing the line and hooks from the bird and returning it to the water.
The Mossos d'Esquadra said: "Some citizens called on us because there was a cormorant tangled in fishing line, with hooks stuck in it, on the breakwater of Mar Bella beach.
"We removed it from the rocks, freed it and returned it to the sea."
The bird was identified only as a cormorant, a fish-eating seabird that is widespread along the Mediterranean coast.
