This video shows the shocking moment a crop duster flies low over terrified beachgoers with the pilots later identified and arrested by cops.
The footage was captured on 12th July, at Lake Ladoga near the village of Kokkorevo in the Leningrad Region, Russia.
Video shows the TR-301 crop duster plane swooping back and forth across the waterfront at low altitude as stunned beachgoers look on, with the aircraft passing just metres above the heads of those on the shore.
Authorities said the pilots were later detained in St Petersburg by special police from the Russian National Guard’s Baltika division and are under investigation in a criminal case for hooliganism committed by a group of persons.
Searches were carried out by officers of the Russian National Guard in coordination with the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport.
A spokesperson said: “The investigation established that on 12th July, the suspects, while operating a TR-301 aircraft, while in the airspace, flew at an extremely low altitude over the shoreline of Lake Ladoga in the area of the village of Kokkorevo in the Vsevolozhsk District of the Leningrad Region.
"As a result of the incident, the pilots created a threat to the safety of people.”
Eyewitnesses reported on social media that the aircraft flew over the beach in both directions and claimed a similar low-flying incident had taken place the previous weekend.
The North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office confirmed it had launched an investigation in connection with the reports.
