This is the bizarre moment a tram driver is seen manually changing the direction of his tram before crashing into another vehicle seconds later.
The accident happened at the intersection in Chelyabinsk, Russia, on Tuesday, 5th August.
CCTV footage shows the driver of tram No. 3 stepping down onto the tracks and manually adjusting the points before getting back behind the controls and moving off.
But as the tram continues forward, it collides with tram No. 16 which is turning left across the junction from the opposite direction.
Tram traffic at the site was suspended following the collision and rerouted while recovery work was carried out.
A local update stated: “Tram traffic is closed at the intersection of Pobedy Avenue and Rossiyskaya Street, a tram has derailed.”
Passengers were transferred to other routes, including services between Pobeda and Rossiyskaya Avenues and ChGRES, and from Chicherina Street to the second depot.
