This video shows the shocking moment a drunk man on a jet ski crashes into two girls on a paddleboard, seriously injuring both teenagers and then fleeing the scene.
The incident happened in the Sea of Japan near the village of Risovaya Pad in the Khasansky District of Primorsky Krai, Russia, on 4th August.
Footage shows the two schoolgirls on a SUP board just offshore when a jet ski suddenly speeds into view and slams into them, sending the paddleboard flying and the girls into the water.
The victims, aged 12 and 15, were rescued by eyewitnesses and pulled ashore before being taken to hospital by ambulance. One girl suffered a broken collarbone, while the other sustained a fractured cervical spine and remains in intensive care on a ventilator.
Authorities said the 30-year-old jet ski driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He has been detained and is facing criminal charges under Part 1.2 of Article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code for violating water transport operation rules and causing serious bodily harm.
The Primorsky Transport Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation and is also examining the practices of companies that rent out jet skis.
