This is the moment a furious taxi passenger jumps out of a cab and fires a stun gun at an e-scooter rider for allegedly blocking a pedestrian crossing.
The incident happened in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on 3rd December 2024, according to prosecutors who confirmed the charges in a statement posted on 4th August.
Video footage from a nearby surveillance camera shows a taxi pulling up to a pedestrian crossing before the passenger door flies open and a man rushes out holding what appears to be a pistol.
He chases the man on the scooter a short distance before firing at him with the weapon and then returning to the vehicle.
The weapon was an aerosol pistol loaded with flash-bang cartridges, designed to create a loud noise and bright flash to disorient the target without causing permanent injury.
The 42-year-old suspect later told authorities that he had wanted to scare and punish the scooter rider, who he claimed had deliberately blocked the taxi on a pedestrian crossing while it was taking him home from work.
Prosecutors in the Central District have confirmed that the man has been charged with hooliganism involving violence under Article 213, Part 1, Paragraph A of the Russian Criminal Code.
The case has been sent to court with a trial pending.
