This is the moment cars drive directly into a blindingly bright setting sun moments before a horrific head-on collision that involving a pensioner and two young children.

The crash happened near the village of Lipovka in the Saratov Region, Russia, on 8th August.

Dashcam footage shows the busy road bathed in glaring orange light from the low sun, with oncoming traffic barely visible against the glare.

A Peugeot 308 driven by a 70-year-old woman is seen crossing into the opposite lane before colliding head-on with a Toyota Isis driven by a 37-year-old man.

The female driver died at the scene.

Two children aged one and five who were in the Toyota were also killed.

Two more children and two adults were injured and taken to hospital.

Local prosecutors say they have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
