A teacher at an exclusive trilingual school who refused to accept that his wife was leaving him stabbed their eight-year-old son to death before sending her a chilling message saying she was leaving with nothing.
Neighbours described the suspected killer Alejandro Javier Ruffo, 52, whose wealthy family reportedly owns the Westminster School, where he worked, as a strange man obsessed with cleanliness, but said he appeared to love his son deeply and frequently posted photos of the pair together on social media.
The killing happened inside the family home in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina, on Tuesday, 5th August.
Ruffo allegedly attacked the child after a row with his wife Natalia Andrea, 41, who had told him she was moving out that day after recent arguments. Her family had already arranged a new place for her to live.
She had just been dropped off by Ruffo at a local bus stop when he sent her the message: "Today you're leaving, but you're leaving with nothing."
She tried calling him but received no answer and alerted both a neighbour and the police.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Ruffo lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor with stab wounds to his stomach.
Upstairs, they discovered the body of their young son, Enzo Joaquin, lying on the master bed.
He had been stabbed and also showed signs of suffocation, according to local reports.
Ruffo was taken to Gandulfo Hospital in a critical condition and remains under arrest in intensive care.
Police say the case is being treated as aggravated homicide.
An autopsy has been ordered for Enzo’s body and psychiatric evaluations for Ruffo will determine his criminal responsibility.
