This is the moment a clumsy arsonist accidentally sets fire to his own motorbike while trying to torch two cars parked in the garage of a house.

The incident happened in Bukit Katil, a town in the Melaka Tengah District in Malaysia, at about 1:38pm on 23rd August.

CCTV footage from the victim’s home shows the suspect arriving on a motorcycle wearing a helmet, a long-sleeved shirt and black trousers.

He is seen dousing two Perodua cars, a Bezza and an Axia, with what appears to be petrol poured from a bucket before tossing a flame onto the vehicles.

As he arrived balancing it in front of him it is to be assumed the fuel sloshed onto the bike.

The blaze erupts but then rapidly spreads to his own motorcycle, which catches fire in front of the garage.

The suspect is then seen fleeing on foot, abandoning the burning motorbike in the street.

Melaka Tengah District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit confirmed that both cars were destroyed by fire and the motorcycle was also found burned at the scene.

He said no eyewitnesses were present during the incident, but several CCTV recordings were being examined.

A police report has been filed under Section 436 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire with intent to destroy property.

Police are continuing their search for the suspect.
