A young mother broke her spine balancing on a can of baby formula on top of her kitchen cabinet in high heels while filming herself for a social media trend based on a Nicki Minaj song.
The incident took place in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and footage of it was posted online on 31st July.
Footage posted by 32-year-old Mariana shows her in stilettos attempting to pose with one foot placed on a jar of baby formula balanced on a saucepan as she stands on a kitchen counter.
Seconds into the recording, she loses her balance and crashes off the surface onto the floor. The clip ends immediately after the fall.
The stunt was an attempt to copy a popular challenge circulating on banned social media platforms in Russia, where users perform precarious squatting poses in high heels on unstable household items.
Mariana wrote that it was her first shoot for a planned parenting blog, launched just eight weeks after giving birth to her son.
Doctors later diagnosed her with a "compression flexion uncomplicated fracture of the T9 vertebral body," meaning she suffered a fracture in the middle of her spine.
In a caption shared alongside the video, she wrote: "I decided to start a blog, my first content shoot — and here I am leaving the doctor with a diagnosis. Irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment."
She added that the fracture was luckily not too serious, but she now has to wear a back-support corset for three months and cannot move around the house or drive without it.
Mariana, who previously worked as a manicurist, had started the blog to document her journey through motherhood after the birth of her son Oscar on 2nd June. Her account focuses on parenting and postpartum life.
