This is the moment two soldiers help a visibly exhausted young boy complete a marathon by cheering him on and supporting him through the final stretch of the race.
Footage shared online shows the child struggling to stay upright in the final metres of the Valle Marathon which took place in Cali, Colombia, on 3rd August, before one soldier from the National Army approaches and encourages him to continue.
The boy, head down and breathing heavily, is gently supported by the soldier who begins to run alongside him.
Moments later, a second soldier joins in on the other side and together they take the boy by each arm and help him forward.
With their support, the youngster regains his strength and manages to cross the finish line, visibly emotional but smiling.
The video of the scene, published by the National Army's Comprehensive Action Command, was widely praised by viewers who described the gesture as moving and inspiring.
The Army said: "A young man who was giving up a few metres from the finish line received encouragement from our soldiers: 'Very good, soldier, excellent!'
"They took him and motivated him to keep going. The young boy, through tears and effort, crossed the finish line.
"Once again, our Comprehensive Action men demonstrated that their mission is not only to protect, but also to inspire and accompany until the end."
Touched Instagram users like 'lawyerarmy' commented: "My heart rejoices with these gestures from our soldiers!!"
Another user, titled 'marxe.fitness', said: "I saw the soldier's motivation for the child and what he did was excellent!! That child will never forget him in his life!! I congratulate the army."
According to official reports, nearly 9,000 runners participated in the marathon across the 42K, 21K, and 10K categories, with the event starting from the Valle del Pacífico Events Centre and passing through Yumbo and Palmira.
The race concluded without major incidents, and the boy's name has not been released.
