This is the moment a helicopter winches an injured hiker to safety from the floor of a deep ravine after she suffered a suspected broken leg.
The footage was obtained from the Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) on 2nd June and shows the rescue in the Hoz Mala ravine, near the town of Aliaga, in the Spanish province of Teruel.
The video shows the injured female hiker at the foot of the gorge on a stretcher, hemmed in by huge boulders and towering natural rock walls after she apparently fell and broke her leg.
Rescuers prepare her to be airlifted on the stretcher before it and one of the rescuers are raised up to a helicopter as the footage ends.
Officers were alerted to the hiker who was stranded in an area that proved extremely hard to reach on foot.
Specialists from the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) were sent in alongside the Civil Guard Air Service to handle the emergency.
The crew reached her across steep, broken ground before the airlift could begin.
The Civil Guard stressed that the airlift sharply cut the rescue time and reduced the danger for the hiker and the crew alike.
The Civil Guard said: "Rescue in the Hoz Mala ravine, Aliaga, Teruel. On this occasion, we travelled to the area following a call about an incident in which we were informed of a woman with a possible fracture of the tibia and fibula.
"Once in the area, our colleagues from the GREIM [Grupos de Rescate e Intervencion en Montana; Spain's elite mountain rescue unit] attended to and immobilised the affected leg, and with the help of the Air Service and using the helicopter's winch, the extraction was carried out."
The Hoz Mala ravine is prized for its scenery and popular with walkers, yet parts of it are dangerous and require extreme caution from hikers.
