A jealous boyfriend who confessed to shooting his pregnant 25-year-old girlfriend has told police how he then cut her body into pieces and scattered the burnt remains in a lake and in a dumpster.
Mum-of-one Jeane Rodrigues do Prado was reported missing by her sister and her charred body parts were eventually found dumped at different locations across Pouso Alegre, Brazil, after she was murdered on 30th July.
Jeane’s sister went to her house six days after she was last seen and found the suspect, 23-year-old bus driver Ian Lucas Pereira Rezende, acting nervously.
She called the police, who arrived to find him claiming Jeane had left after an argument.
In the presence of a lawyer, he then confessed to shooting her in the chest, claiming she had threatened him with a gun and it went off as he tried to disarm her.
Rezende told officers he burned her body in the backyard, dismembered it, and placed the remains in plastic bags along with her phone and the gun before dumping them in a supermarket dumpster and in a lake.
Firefighters and police have recovered two bags of bones from the lake and more remains from a landfill.

Jeane, who worked at a local snack bar, leaves behind a young son who lived with her parents.
She was 17 weeks pregnant with suspect Rezende's child at the time of the crime.
Family members told police the couple’s relationship was marked by constant fights, often over jealousy and money. Police had been called to their home previously to break up disputes.
The suspect remains in custody as police investigate the case as femicide.
The victim’s remains have not yet been released to her family for burial.
