This is the moment fires rage and rescue workers pick through the wreckage of residential buildings across Kyiv after Russia launched one of its heaviest assaults on the Ukrainian capital in months killing at least five people and leaving dozens trapped beneath rubble.
The footage was obtained from the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine and shows the incident in the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv, on 2nd June.
The SES of Ukraine said in an initial statement: "As a result of the Russian shelling of 2nd June, three people were killed and 35 were injured, including three children."
This figure was later updated to at least five killed and 65 injured, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
The statement also said: "As a result of enemy strikes, residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged in the Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
"In Podilskyi district, a strike on a nine-storey residential building caused partial destruction of the upper floors.
"People may be trapped under the rubble. Five casualties are currently known. Rescue operations are continuing.
"At other addresses, cars caught fire in open areas, a fire broke out in a four-storey building on the grounds of an educational institution, and vehicles and a warehouse building were on fire at a municipal facility.
"In Obolonskyi district, a fire broke out in a site office at a construction site.
"In Shevchenkivskyi district, the facade and roof of a nine-storey residential building were partially damaged.
"In Darnytskyi district, a fire broke out at a petrol station.
"In Solomianskyi district, a fire started in a flat on the 16th floor of a 20-storey building. A private residential house also caught fire. A fire broke out on the 9th floor of a 24-storey residential building. Rescuers freed one man.
"In Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out at a market and the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building were destroyed. At other addresses, several cars caught fire, fires broke out in office premises, in temporary structures and commercial buildings, and a fire and destruction occurred at a business centre.
"In Sviatoshynskyi district, the facade and window glazing of a five-storey residential building were damaged. At another address, minor roof damage was recorded on a nine-storey residential building.
"In Pecherskyi district, minor damage was recorded at an unfinished construction site.
"Information is being updated. Rescuers and all relevant services are working at the scene."
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who described the overnight bombardment as a "massive enemy attack," said a suspected missile hit a 24-storey building in Shevchenkivskyi district, while a "double-tap" strike caused the partial collapse of a nine-storey block in Podilskyi district, with people feared still buried in the wreckage.
Strikes also damaged a clinic and sent debris onto the grounds of a nursery school, he added.
Mykola Kalashnyk, the Kyiv regional governor, said: "Throughout the night, the enemy launched massive attacks on the Kyiv region using drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Our peaceful towns and villages were once again under attack."
In Bucha, three houses, warehouses, and other non-residential buildings were also damaged, Kalashnyk said.
Russia fired 656 drones and 73 missiles at Ukraine overnight, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, which said 642 of the total were brought down. Eight hypersonic Zircon missiles were among those launched, none of which was intercepted.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who had warned of a possible large-scale attack in his Monday night address, called urgently on Washington to supply missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) claimed its strike targeted defence, military, fuel, and transport facilities, describing it as retaliation for what it called "terrorist acts committed by the Kyiv regime."
Across Ukraine, the overnight attack killed at least 14 people in total, with nine further deaths recorded in Dnipro, bringing the nationwide toll to one of the highest in recent months.
