A singer has told how she was terrified when the door of the plane she was on suddenly opened mid-flight, forcing the pilot to perform an emergency landing.
Brazilian artist Lauana Prado was flying from Anapolis to Sorocaba, in Sao Paulo, when the incident occurred about 20 minutes after departure on the morning of 18th August.
The door reportedly burst open while passengers were beginning to rest.
Prado said she woke to a loud noise and saw light coming into the aircraft as the door opened.
She described the incident as "a huge scare" but added that the pilots acted swiftly and professionally.
According to Lauana, she was asleep when she heard a very loud noise, saw the door open, and a flash of light coming into the aircraft.
She recalled: "It was a huge fright, I woke up to the noise - it was like a break-in. A very, very loud noise.
"I had an eye mask on, trying to sleep, and when I saw the door open and the light flooding into the plane, obviously you can imagine the panic it caused."
She added: "I've never been through anything like this. Thank God we're okay. We're still very shaken, but grateful that we didn't have a much worse outcome."
The plane diverted to Goiania’s Santa Genoveva Airport and landed safely at around 10am.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, and the singer confirmed everyone was unharmed.
Prado said in a live broadcast that she prayed intensely during the ordeal and was grateful that the situation did not have a worse outcome.
Her make-up artist, Lucas Lins, also reassured fans on social media, stating that the group escaped "without a scratch".
Aeronautical authorities are investigating the cause of the door opening, which remains unclear.
The singer had performed a show in Vianopolis the previous night and was returning home to Sorocaba.
Despite the emergency, no shows in her "Raiz" tour have been cancelled, according to her team.
